In the current balance of the game: even if Firebug is one of the "worst" perks when compared to others, odds are that means it can still wipe out trash and large Zeds alike with relative ease. But at the same time, I feel that you shouldn't automatically discount people ranking Firebug on the low end of the perk effectiveness scale, given that many of the perks in this game don't have a concrete, defining weakness anymore after recent updates and additions. With the power creep we've gotten as of late, pretty much every perk is good by that definition, honestly.Īgain: I don't know have a personal opinion on how Firebug stacks up in the current meta. But if we're just going off of what's viable and setting the bar for "bad" at "literally condemns your team to certain death if you use it," then pretty much no single perk in this game is bad. If we're ranking everything comparatively, then technically the worst option will be "bad" by definition. Granted, "bad" can mean different things depending on the context. I don't have a personal opinion on OP's question (haven't played the game in some time) but a reminder: Extra things you can do to deal with multiple FP. Before anyone comments on "Too Slow Kill", this is me not even committing to the kill, I can kill a FP in half the time which also includes a Horde. First Heatwave KB alr gave a Marksman Time and Space to Decap with a 2nd time on the 3rd. Real Game, 8 QP, 2% Capacity per kill, Horde Majority dead in 15s, in No damage taken 8 QP 1.75% Capacity, 1.5s per kill, 1 hit taken that could've been avoided I mean, if a Horde kill of 4s per SC while also being able to kill trash is worse than other perks or being able to clear a horde of 8 QP's in 12s without even backpedaling is terrible then. I've let a M99 SS sit there the entire game and Snipe without needing to move even against 3 Raged FP since I slowed their advance and opened their heads for him to shoot. I easily put Firebug above everyone but the Big 4 (GS/SS/Com/Sup). Best Trash clear since you can kill a horde of Trash in 1 Tap and easily fund your team. On top of your own kit that can actually support Marksmans if done right via Heatwave which can give free shots, Shrapnel Stunning serving them a free kill, Runway Resetting via Heatwave > KB which gives Space and basically feed on the 1 HVT that they struggle with, QP's. You can Wall better than a Zerk as you stand at Mid range and CC everything to do nothing or make them miss, Sustain AoE DPS better than a Demo since Microwave works well on all 3 HVT's, Fire for Trash and have a spammable Flashbang that pierces Rage since Trash comes with HVT's. A Firebug hitting the High Skill cap is basically 4 Perks in one. It'll get real boring if you just keep playing the same stuff wave after wave. To be clear, this is only for 6 man HoE, otherwise you can get away with almost anything. ![]() Since you're just a weaker version of every other class there is no margin for error. You really have to know the game and what your team needs to be a good survivalist. Survivalist is too general and doesn't do anything better than any other perk. Firebug causes fire-panic, ruining the rack-em-up perks for slinger and sharpshooter, and is tied with the medic for worst big zed killer.While they are both amazing at taking down large zeds, I feel like they don't provide as much utility as other perks. They're not bad, just unoptimized for team play and don't mesh nicely with the other perks. The bottom of the "good" classes are Demo and Berserker.A field medic has some really nice buffs, can be pretty tanky, and will save your ass in a pinch.Kills small zeds and sets up kills on bigger ones. Swat is an amazing trash killer and has one of the two best grenades in the game.(tier 5 M4 is probably my favourite gun in the game) Support is probably the next best perk just because of how well it deals with large zeds and trash while also providing ammo.Sharp initiates Zed time, commando extends zed time by killing trash, and slinger kills everything else. The absolute three best classes to play are for HoE team games at level 25 are: Commando, gunslinger and sharpshooter.Suicidal and up you should have some kind of game plan to not get wiped constantly. If you're just screwing around on hard and normal - anything is viable. If you wanna be a HoE min-maxer, survivalist and firebug are the worst perks while the rest are up for debate. ![]()
